Culture, leisure & tourism

The culture, leisure and tourism group was set up to:

  • Advise and act in support of the partnership (and through the partnership, the local authorities) on sub-regional culture, leisure and tourism matters;
  • Recommend joint action on these matters to the partnership and secure the outcomes approved;
  • Advocate responses on sub-regional culture, leisure and tourism matters to influence regional and national policy and resource allocation; and
  • Work with the other specialist groups of the partnership on issues of common interest.

The group's initial priorities include:

  • Contributing to the development of the long-term vision for the sub-region.
  • Planning future investment in cultural and leisure facilities within the sub-region, to secure greater complementary investment by the regional and national funding bodies and the private sector in community and sub-regional facilities.

The membership of the group (available here) consists of the councillors from each of the four local authorities; the relevant chief officer from each authority; and representatives from sub-regional and regional culture and sport agencies.

The 'Events and Meetings' pages give you access to meeting papers, reports and information about forthcoming events. Please note that some of these papers are from the West of England Culture and Leisure Officers Association (WECLOA), which preceded the formation of the sub-regional partnership.
