- Government Office for the South West (GOSW): GOSW works with regional partners and local people to help deliver the Government's aims in the region.
- Department of Communities and Local Government (DCLG): DCLG is responsible for policy on housing, planning, regional and local government and the fire service. It also takes responsibility for the Neighbourhood Renewal Unit and the Government Offices for the Regions.
- South West Regional Assembly (SWRA): SWRA is a voluntary grouping of councillors from authorities in the region and representatives of various sectors with a role in promoting economic, social and environmental well-being. It has been designated as the Regional Planning Body for the South West.
- South West Regional Development Agency (SWRDA): SWRDA's goal is to improve the economy of the South West. It also promotes the strengths of the region and helps people to regenerate their communities.
